Located in the heart of Hawke’s Bay, Tironui Estate is a vineyard of five acres established by Richard & Jennifer Brown in 2002. Nestled just below “Sugarloaf” in Taradale, it overlooks Mission Estate, with views across Napier and out to Cape Kidnappers in the distance.

Origin – Hawkes Bay, North Island, New Zealand
Climate – Maritime influenced, dry and temperate, with hot summers and cool winters.
Soils – Steep Northeast facing slope, complex structure containing layers of limestone and seashells, interspersed with clay loam.
Varietal Composition – Malbec 51%. Merlot 42%. Cabernet 7%
Vinification – The varieties are all estate grown, hand picked and form the assemblage as harvested. Fermentation is followed by 14 months ageing in two/three year old French oak barrels, subject to minimal winemaker intervention. Alcohol by vol: 14.0%
Tasting Notes – Colour – Bright Crimson
Aroma – Lifted fresh ripe berries with a hint of plum
Flavour – The higher percentage of Merlot flavours are balanced with the primary fruit character of the Malbec component and bold tannins that will meld with bottle age.
Food Match – Tomato, Basil and Pepperoni Pasta, with a sprinkling of crumbled Feta.
